Pumpkin Thoughts

I might say that I have been a little busy.... I might...  and it would be true.  We went from an UNFINISHED school building to ... teaching ANYWAY.... to.... back to school busy- ness in a flash.....   and after the being in the building and being SOOOOOO hot that we melted (with 85 degree temps IN the classrooms- with NO AIR CONDITIONING)......

One day... it just - cooled off.... and we have had a blissful, blissful week of FALL WEATHER!!!!  Yippee!!!   and it is ALMOST as if the nightmare of the HEAT is a distant memory....

So, of course.... I leaped right past teaching about BEES and APPLES and STRAIGHT into.... PUMPKINS!   It just seemed to be the right thing to do... just sayin'..... and the kids are loving it.

Summer is about over.... getting ready!

I tried all summer to do SUMMER.... to focus on refilling the cup... to focus on some just plain enjoyable pastimes.... to... have SUMMER.....

but THIRD GRADE THOUGHTS came a creeping in......   sneaky little thoughts.... disturbing my sleep..... making me drift into making new "STUFF" for those lucky third graders!  haha!!!

I make folders for each student to have at their desk.  I have them put all the work from the day into the folder as we work on it.  At the end of the day they staple it together into a little packet for parents to see and sign.  I like having this daily home/school connection so parents stay in the loop. They bring it back the next morning to check in.

Whoo's in Third??? I am !

Moving to third grade this year and it should prove to be fun and exciting.  I spent 12 years in Second Grade... moved to 5th... then to 6th.... and now.... heading to 3rd.  I think it is going to be where I stay for a while- maybe forever.....

I am getting good at packing and moving my STUFF.... Three years in a row??? Yep.... and I think this time is the charm.
I have been having ideas floating around in my head about the "Theme" in my new room.  I have done apples, bees, owls.... well... I still love owls.... and I still love purple.... purpliciously purple.... but I think I am going to ADD flowers to the mix.... and we are going to GROW together....

Whatcha think about that???

It is JUNE people.... JUNE..... we have been out ONE....ONE.... ONE WEEK.... and here I am thinking about my next year's little bunch....  hahaha!  (add hysterical laughter!!)  

It is all good....
